Julia Wishart  [BOccThy (Hons)]

Director and Occupational Therapist

AHPRA registration: OCC0001946401

 

Julia received her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours from Deakin University.  Julia has a special interest in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and fine motor skills, having completed her honour's research on the underlying skills of handwriting.  

 

Julia's experience includes working in private practice, and as the head of the Occupational Therapy department in a mainstream P-12 school providing professional supervision and expertise to Occupational Therapy placement students and the schools new graduate Occupational Therapist.  Julia is experienced in working with clients from a wide range of culturally diverse background and supporting children with developmental delay, diagnosed disability and those with a trauma background. 

 

Julia has completed many training programs to further her knowledge such as Zones of Regulation, integrating sensory and attachment approaches, and STAR sensory processing, regulation and relationship. 

 

Outside of work, Julia enjoys spending time with her dogs, pet lambs and goats, and completing art projects. 

 

 Julia has two articles published in international journals exploring the topic of handwriting

  • The association between measures of visual perception, visual-motor integration, and in-hand manipulation skills of school-age children and their manuscript handwriting speed - British Journal of Occupational Therapy
  • The visual perception, visual-motor integration (VMI) and in-hand manipulation (IHM) skills of children ages six to eight years: Are they associated with manuscript handwriting legibility?  - Australian Occupational Therapy Journal 

Luna

Certified Pets as Therapy Animal

 

Tiny Tackers Therapy is fortunate to have a certified therapy animal, Luna. This allows Tiny Tackers to provide animal assisted therapy. Luna is a seven year old Beagle cross who works closely with Julia. Luna enjoys playing frisbee, fetch and going swimming in the river in her spare time.

Helen Parkes

Business Manager

 

Helen (known as Hel) provides support with the management of all things business related. She also manages the billing and invoicing so you may interact with her in regards to payment or funding inquiries such as NDIS or Medicare.

 

Hel has a strong background in accounting and administration having worked in public and private schools as well as health practices for over 30 years. Helen enjoys working with online technology and is usually found during the week on her laptop from dawn to dusk working out how to make the office function better!

 

In her spare time Hel is an outdoor enthusiast enjoying mountain bike racing, road and track (velodrome) cycling, kayaking, bush walking, camping and travelling to obscure parts of the world with her family. In addition, Helen is a cycling coach and a member of the State Emergency Service specialising in operations management.   

 

Bridie Armstrong

Occupational Therapy Assistant 

 

Bridie is currently studying her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University, Geelong. For the past four years, Bridie has gained extensive experience working with children aged 3-18 years, in her role as Education Support in a Specialist School and Kindergarten. 

 

Outside of work and Uni Bridie enjoys going to the beach with her two dogs, horse riding, camping, playing netball and Polocrosse.     

 

Erin McKnight 

Occupational Therapy Assistant 

 

Erin is currently studying her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University, Geelong. Erin has worked as a residential support worker in an Autism based service, helping clients to increase their independence. Erin also spends her time as a volunteer, supporting children 4 years+ to go on group outings. Erin has completed additional professional development to support children with sensory processing differences to thrive, via the Gen Jereb Traffic Jam in my Brain course. 

 

Outside of work and Uni, Erin enjoys finding new adventures to take her two dogs on, painting and spending time with family and friends.  

Sheridan Billings 

Occupational Therapy Assistant 

 

Sheridan is currently completing the final/4th year of her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University Geelong. Sheridan has previously worked as a classroom teacher for children with disabilities, including working within a Special Development School setting. Sheridan has additional qualifications in teaching children with ASD and in music performance. Sheridan enjoys utilising her music skills in her work, where possible.

 

Outside of work Sheridan enjoys being a Mother to her four children and her pug, cooking, gardening, reading, crochet, puzzles and music.

Paige Wilkinson

Occupational Therapy Assistant 

 

Paige is currently completing the final/4th year of her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University Geelong. Paige has experience working with children as an OSHC educator with YMCA and an education support staff member in a mainstream primary school. 

 

Greta Ryan

Occupational Therapy Assistant 

 

Greta is currently finishing up the second year of her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University Geelong. Greta has previously worked as an Allied Health Assistant in Swan Hill, and has experience assisting OT’s with group programs including yoga, school readiness, messy play and fine motor skill development. 

 

In her spare time Greta likes to spend time with her friends and family, read, cook, run and take Pilates.
