Julia received her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours from Deakin University, where she completed an honours research project on the underlying skills of handwriting in students 6-8 years of age. Julia has experience working with children 3-12 years of age. Julia is experienced in working with clients from a wide range of culturally diverse backgrounds. This includes indigenous Australians, new Australians and individuals with a refugee background, who may or may not have a trauma history, diagnosed disability, developmental delay, or are at risk of developmental delay.
Julia's experience includes working in private practice, privately as an ABA therapist, and is the head of the Occupational Therapy department in a mainstream P-12 school providing professional supervision and expertise to Occupational Therapy placement students and the schools new graduate Occupational Therapist.
Julia is experienced in presenting professional development seminars on sensory processing, handwriting, school readiness, self regulation, and self-care skills to primary and secondary school teachers and education support staff, early childhood educators/Kindergarten teachers, parents and other health professionals. Julia has experience working closely with numerous mainstream schools to ensure each child's transition to school is one in which they, their family and their future teacher feel supported and knowledgeable, enabling successful engagement in the curriculum. Julia has designed Prep to Grade 2 pre-writing and handwriting curriculum, as well as evidence based education handouts for teachers and parents on key skills needed for successful engagement at school.
Julia has two articles published in international journals exploring the topic of handwriting - Australian Journal of Occupational Therapy and the British Journal of Occupational Therapy.

Tiny Tackers Therapy is fortunate to have a certified therapy animal, Luna. This allows Tiny Tackers to provide animal assisted therapy. Luna is a three year old Beagle cross who works closely with Julia.
